Our standard minimum order is $150 per order, in line with our existing minimum order. However to qualify for using The Udder Way system we require a minimum of 2 deliveries (ideally 3 deliveries a week)

We had hoped that the keg milk price would be the same price as it’s plastic bottle equivalent, however the cost of the production has increased as our throughput of milk kegs is less efficient (at 4:1). What we save by not using a plastic bottle is replaced by the additional labour required to transport, handle, wash and fill the kegs. By using these kegs you should find savings in the waste and recycling collection fees that your municipal council or private contractor charges.

The kegs cost a lot more than plastic bottles to fabricate. By facilitating a bond, it ensures we can recoup the costs of any kegs that are not returned to us.

By facilitating a deposit charge per keg, we are able to track the number of kegs any customer has onsite with an inventory check.

Each Retailer will place an order as per the current process. The invoice will include two line items:

1. the milk (listed at wholesale cost)

2. the keg (fully refundable on return = $.01 per unit)

On delivery, our driver will inspect and pickup the empty kegs, logging any returns and deliveries on our software program. This will then appear on the ‘Customer Invoice’ and the ‘Delivery Manifest’ the number of returned kegs delivered and credited. This invoice will be emailed to you within 24 hours and you can request a printed copy from the delivery driver. The driver will be instructed to only pick up clean kegs that meet our returns policy (washed, lidded and undamaged).

The onus is on the Customer to ensure the following:

Milk Keg: is the Schulz branded TUW keg (not an alternative brand or type). The keg must be completely cleaned of milk residue, and have no dents, scratches or cracks.

Lid: is cleaned and remains on the keg - the lid must be completely cleaned of milk residue.

Unless these conditions are fully met, Schulz cannot accept the milk keg return and thus cannot refund the milk keg deposit.

Once returned to Schulz dairy headquarters, the kegs are rechecked again for any damage and rewashed with a high-tech, purpose-built keg washer. They will then be sterilized and refilled with our fresh organic milk before returning back to you.

The Udder Way estimate that each Keg will have a reuse lifespan of at least 8-10 years or 800 cycles, but we hope for much more than that. Our Kegs, if cared for should last much longer. Then, at the end of it’s days, the keg is returned to The Udder Way for recycling.

Each keg sold will save approximately 450g of plastic.

A standard rubbish bin holds approximately 109 x 2lt crushed plastic bottles, the average cost of sending one of these bins to landfill from suburban Melbourne is $60 per pickup (2022).
